Description
Cloth face mask designed by Italian artist Andrea Mastrovito in partnership with CIMA.
In 2020 CIMA commissioned Italian artist Andrea Mastrovito to come up with a design for a face mask that would be made available for purchase to support CIMA’s fellowship program and our mission to make Italian art more accessible to a wide international audience. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Italy and New York City quickly became epicenters, forcing lockdowns and stay-at-home orders. The message behind the mask is one of positivity and humanity, citing Mastrovito’s work “Love is a Four Letter Word” in which an abstracted DNA filament made up of letters connects two people.
This is a cloth face covering, two-ply and has a ‘pocket’ that allows insertion of a PM 2.5 filter (filters do not come with the mask).
Care Instructions: Wash by hand or in washing machine in warm water with non-bleach detergent.
