Following his 2014 visit when he spoke about the puppet theatre of Futurist artist Fortunato Depero, Dan Hurlin returns to CIMA to read his translation of DRAMMA PLASTICO FUTURISTA, four short puppet plays written by Depero in 1917.

Medardo Rosso Study Day

CIMA is pleased to present a Study Day on Medardo Rosso, the subject of the foundation’s 2014-15 season. Acclaimed for his radical approaches to material, subject, and form, Rosso (1858-1928) was an artist who focused intently on process and was involved in every aspect of the creation of his works. This program offers the opportunity to explore various facets of the artist’s career and practice, focusing in particular on his experimental photographic practice and on his relations with his French contemporaries, especially Rodin and Degas.

NYC Area Art History Fellows Gathering

CIMA hosted the first such event in June 2014, and the Frick Collection hosted the second in December.

CIMA is excited to present a Study Day on Alfred Barr and Margaret Scolari Barr, on April 23. Alfred Barr (1902-81), the first director of the Museum of Modern Art, and Margaret Scolari Barr (1901-87), art historian and author of the first book in English on Medardo Rosso, played a crucial role in introducing modern Italian art to the United States.
