Robert Storr and Lawrence Weschler in Conversation

CIMA hosts renowned curator and writer Robert Storr in conversation with Lawrence Weschler for a special evening of reflection on Louise Bourgeois, whose works are on display at CIMA in dialogue with those of ALBERTO SAVINIO, subject of the 2017-18 season. Storr will discuss the art and life of Bourgeois, subject of Intimate Geometries, his groundbreaking 828-page monograph released by Monacelli Press in 2016. The conversation will touch as well on the work of Savinio and the affinities between the two artists.

Robert Storr, artist, critic, and curator, is currently the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Dean. He has been senior curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art, the first Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University, the first American to be appointed visual arts director of the Venice Biennale, and most recently the dean of the Yale School of Art. Among his many honors, the French Ministry of Culture awarded him with the medal of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
Lawrence Weschler, director emeritus of the New York Institute for the Humanities at NYU, is a former staff writer for the New Yorker magazine and the celebrated author of over twenty books on art, life, and society, including Seeing is Forgetting the Name of the Thing One Sees (his life of contemporary artist Robert Irwin) and a forthcoming memoir of his 35-year friendship with Oliver Sacks.
